Hand Gestures

Tap, Swipe and Scroll Hand Animations

Cutout hands that show viewers what to press: animated hands that tap, thumb-tap, swipe and scroll a phone, and live-action hands for a filmed, natural look. Drop them over screen recordings, app demos and phone mockups in tutorials and social explainers.

Category information

Which format should I download?

ProRes (.MOV): the hand arrives as a ready cutout with a transparent background, so it goes straight over your screen recording or mockup.
MP4: has a background around the hand. If you key it, zoom in on the fingertips, where a rough key shows first.

How to add a hand gesture to a screen recording

Scale the hand to the device it's touching. A finger wider than the button it presses breaks the illusion.
Let the wrist run off the bottom or side of the frame, the way a real hand reaches in.
Add a soft, slightly offset shadow under the finger so it rests on the screen instead of hovering above it.
Match color temperature and brightness on live-action hands, then pair taps with animated buttons and a click from our mograph sound effects.
